Potty Training ProblemsAs a result of the overall difficulty of the potty training process, there are often many potty training problems that parents and children experience.

Potty training is not only difficult for the child who is attempting to gain control of their bladder and bowels, it is also difficult for the parent who is often more ready to do away with diapers than the child.

If you are going through this process, take heart you are not alone, and in most cases the potty training problems resolve themselves.

Going into the potty training process try to remember that every child is different, will have different training problems, and will potty train in their own unique way in their own time.

Bowel Movements but No Urine in the Potty

Many parents experience frustration because their child is able to have bowel movements in the potty but often has accidents when it comes to urinating in the potty. This is usually something that, as a parent, you will need to be patient with.

Most children gain control of their bowels before they gain control of their bladder. Over time your child will recognize the need to urinate, especially with praise, and will begin to make it to the potty more and more. Patience is key here, and maybe a good potty training guide.

The Child is Afraid of the Toilet

Many children are afraid of the toilet and this results in a delay of potty training. A great way to reduce the fear is to allow the child to see other people in the family using the potty without injury.

Buying a child size potty or a child size seat may help the child overcome the fear of falling into the toilet. Explain that the potty cannot hurt the child and in time they will find that it isn’t so scary.

Child Has Accidents as Soon as They Get Off the Potty

This can be very frustrating for the parent and the child. This usually happens really on in the training process. The reason is that the child is not able to relax and let the urine or bowel movement pass while on the potty because of anxiety, so as soon as they are off the potty they are able to go.

This may mean that your child isn’t yet ready and you might have potty training problems, you also may want to give your child a book while on the potty to help them relax.
